It’s (HTC) Magic

htc-magic

Excuse my Paul Daniel’s reference but how often do you get to mention a 1980’s magicians in a mobile phone blog? Answers on a post card.

Any hoo, the Omio guys are currently attending the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona and are reporting on the cool stuff they see there. Check out the blog to get all the latest news.

The latest Android powered smartphone to be announced is the HTC Magic. The HTC Magic will be available from spring 2009, so not much longer to wait. Although it is the second Android powered handset, it is no G2, more like G1.5 as it includes all the features from the original G1 but with some refinements including a 3.2 inch QVGA touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera, MP3 player and scrolling trackball. However the biggest difference between the original Android device and HTC Magic is the UI. The HTC Magic includes many more Google powered applications such as Maps and search as well giving access to Vodafone specific services.

What is lacks from the original G1 is the slide out QWERTY keyboard, replaced by a virtual and the 3.5mm headphone jack replaced by a multi-purpose HTC ExtUSB port.

Android Cupcake – YouTube Favourites

htc-magic1

The drip drip of information regarding the Cupcake is rather like Chinese water torture or sadistic foreplay. We can’t show you everything but take a peek at this. So it is, that today there is another tantalising glance of Cupcake. Mobile Crunch spotted a YouTube Favourites folder on the HTC Magic. Access your favourite YouTube videos from the home screen fantastic, excellent means I can listen to Flock of Seagulls I Ran, without all that tedious typing into YouTube’s search bar.
