- Rename it to update.zip – move it to root folder on your SD card, which is still inside your T-Mobile G1.

- switch off the G1.

- switch on whilst holding down the ‘Home’ key.

That’s it! As usual, be careful and do it right, or no G1 for you!

UK T-Mobile G1 RC9 Update Is Out…With NO Paid Apps, NO Google Latitude And NO Voice Search!

geriunionjack

Awesome! Got the new T-Mobile G1 RC9 update this afternoon!

There’s no Google Latitude and no Voice Google Search in UK RC9 that was in the other versions. Not awesome!

Possibly the UK RC9 has no voice search for the same reason the iPhone app didn’t come out, because it won’t understand the accents of the Queen’s English, but why no Latitude?

The geo-based app is supposed to let you see where your friends are on Google Maps (provided they let you…), is it that the maps aren’t up to scratch in this part of the world?

Oh, and the Amazon MP3 market and Instant Messaging support for anything other than Google Talk aren’t back either…but that’s a given. Beginning to accept the lack of support.

Still no paid apps in the Marketplace either…this is getting to be a joke.

Please sort it out T-Mobile UK! We’re starting to lose faith! As empty 66 commented on the post below: “If 20% of users are buying a T-Mobile G1, why can’t they get the support they deserve from T-Mobile?!”

T-Mobile G1: 1 In 5 Of All T-Mobile UK Contract Sales

As T-Mobile has announced their 2008 financial results, the numbers seem pretty positive on the whole, with a big pat on the back for the T-Mobile G1!

Despite a 3% fall in subscribers to 16.8 million, contract users have seen a 4.5% rise, and the G1 has been a big part of it. 20% of all new sign-ups have been to acquire the Android-powered device, and has seen success since the October 2008 launch.

“The successful launch of the T-Mobile G1 in October and the ongoing demand for mobile broadband services had a positive impact on the latter half of 2008,” said T-Mobile’s CEO Jim Hyde in a statement.

According to T-Mobile, the G1 was the network’s “best-selling launch of 2008″. They must be gutted to lose the G2 HTC Magic to Vodafone UK…
