Sorry Is The Hardest Word To Say (About 3rd Party Widgets)

So I wrote a post about potential security issues in Open Home. Potential’s word here, not actual. I may have slightly over-egged the pudding here, and it made it sound if you installed Open Home your phone would be ransacked by malevolent hackers intent on getting their hands on your contact’s list while trying to steal your passwords. However, the post was merely trying to say there are issues with 3rd party widgets which Android have not yet resolved but which do not affect Open Home as third party widgets are disabled. Unlike Gordon Brown I am sorry and like the Murphy’s I’m not bitter.
So it’s time to put on my dunce’s hat and sit in the naughty corner till I’ve learned my lesson. Here’s Open Home’s response to the post:
Hi, just wanted to get the record straight. The security issues for widget support exist for Home replacement apps that support Widgets. Currently that includes aHome, dxTop. In fact Open Home is the ONLY home replacement app in the market that does not allow 3rd party widgets. If you are going to post a story please get your information correct. Open Home is the only Home replacement app that does not have the security problem. You had gotten it completely backward.
