I thought you may be interested that there is now a free version of Electric Pocket’s Ringo available for Android. They will have a commercial version when it is possible to offer one, but Electric Pocket wanted to go ahead and get Android users to try it.
The current version enables you to have complete control over your ringtones and SMS alerts, and features the bright and easy-to-use interface that has made it so popular among Palm, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry users.
Ringo makes it simple to quickly change your phone’s tones, or set personal ring and SMS tones for your favorite contacts.

They will be adding more features, with an MP3 picker probably being the next feature tacked on, but they have addressed the most requested items already — most notably SMS tones.
