HTC Dream (G1) Now Available In Italy!

t-mobile-dream-g1-phone3

The first ever Android handset is now available to the Italians courtesy of HTC, launching the Dream (a.k.a. T-Mobile G1) on the TIM network.

Unlike the T-Mobile G1, the HTC Dream only comes in black, but will be offered on both contract and prepay setups. The latter costs around €429, whilst the Dream is free on a pay monthly deal!

Let’s see how TIM handles the onslaught of the sexy new HTC Magic, available on Vodafone soon in Italy as well as in the UK. Having the v1.0 Android handset whilst Voda shows off the hot new 2009 model will make the Dream a tough sell…

Vive La HTC Dream

louis-the-xviThey do things differently in France, I’m going to spare you the lazy cultural stereotypes of a ‘Year in the Merde‘ , but they do. Whereas in the UK, HTC’s very first Android powered handset was called the G1, in France it goes under the moniker of the HTC Dream.  This is a question of network rather than some anglo-French divide. The G1 is released via T-Mobile in the UK while in France the phone will be released via Orange.

The French definitely do follow in Britain’s foot steps in many cultural and historical ways, as with the G1and HTC Magic. For instance way back in 1689, Britain chopped the head off Charles the 1st and a mere 140 or so years later they did the same to poor old Louis the XVI. 5 months after the G1 was released in the UK, on March the 15th the phone will finally be released in France. It’s all about, the French gazing over the channel and seeing what a good thing Britain’s got going on and thinking, “I’ll have my self some of that” but in French of course.

HTC Dream Becomes Reality In Australia And Asia!

HTC has announced the new Dream, an HTC-branded version of T-Mobile G1, the original code name for the first Android handset for those with longer memories! The HTC Dream will be targeted at Asia and Australia exclusively, becoming the second Android handset to market (sort of), and the first to be released on that side of the world!

In an obvious attempt to stay out of the way of T-Mobile G1, HTC are releasing their Android-powered HTC Dream only in Asia and Australia. SingTel and Optus will be the first networks to get their mitts on the original Android device.

Specswise it’s all we’ve come to know and love in the T-Mobile G1. Still a 3.2 megapixel camera, still a 3″ touchscreen and flippy-out QWERTY keyboard, still Wi-Fi and GPS, and still no video playback out of the box!

Optus Australia will start selling the device on four payment plans from 16 February 2009, whilst details regarding the Singtel launch are TBA.

Enjoy it, we have been!
