Android Market Announces Plans For Global Domination, Also Support

still35

As the T-Mobile G1 and HTC Magic get released in more territories, so the shadow of Android Market grows over the world!

Phandroid has been given a special Support Team telegram, within which the latest countries to receive extra Android lovin’ for apps have been announced.

Free apps can now be downloaded in:

- Canada (eh?)

- France (oui!)

- Ireland (so they are)

- Italy (buongiorno)

- Portugal (tudo bem?)

- Spain (si)

- Switzerland (tschuss!)

…whilst local language support will be available for English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech and Polish.

More languages supported, the more people that can make an enjoy apps! That’s indeed the key to their success, and it’s cool to see Google recognising that.

HTC Magic Will Be MyTouch3G On T-Mobile!

mytouch

Whilst we all know the fate that has befallen the HTC Magic in the UK, becoming a Vodafone exclusive and all, but it seems that the Android handset will still come to the US under the T-Mobile banner!

Better yet, it seems that the T-Mo market research that was being done to find a new name has found a winner!

mytouch3g

On their stock computers, the MyTouch3G hs popped up in black, white, and even a fetching merlot colour…

Which one are you going to get, or are you sticking to the G1? Also, aren’t you glad it didn’t end up being called the Genius 3G with Google?

T-Mobile G1 Vs. HTC Magic: A Video Comparison!

Lucky UK journos have been getting up close and personal with the HTC Magic today, and Zara of Shiny Shiny had her beautifully manicured hands on the Vodafone exclusive handset, comparing it to the T-Mobile G1!

Why am I not there? Good question. Think I’m having far more fun listening to Asher Roth (with his rude lyrics) and writing blog posts about arcade games! I think you’ll agree, I’m the real winner.

“Razor Ramon flow, oh so sharp, you can take Kapowski, I’ma take Lark on my Go-Kart.”

Extra, extra points for any Saved By The Bell reference.

T-Mobile Branded HTC Magic Could Mean the G2 Is A Reality For The US

t-mobile-magic-demo-2

Well, the title says it all really. Although the HTC Magic is released through Vodafone worldwide, it may be that T-Mobile that gets the US release. This would entail a bit of a name change. How doe G2 sound to everyone? Picture courtesy of Engadget.com

Gameloft Brings 20 New Mobile Games To T-Mobile G1!

CSI on G1

Mobile gaming publisher Gameloft was itching to get some cash money from the Android platform, and unsurprisingly as soon as the floodgates opened on paid apps into the Marketplace, they have no less than 20 titles coming out for the T-Mobile G1.

About time too, the lack of decent games was annoying! Only so many times you can play Pac-Man…

There is a good mix of some big licences, arguably what Gameloft do best. CSI: Miami (complete with a virtual moody and caring Horatio, with glasses!) and dating legend (Adriana Lima, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, Mariah Carey and Jessica Biel…come on!) Derek Jeter in Pro Baseball ‘09 are the highlights, with many more games for Android handsets to follow…

“With digital distribution being the platform of the future, Android Market continues the momentum by providing new channels for consumers to find, buy and download games,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing at Gameloft. “We believe in the potential of Android Market, both in terms of content and accessibility. We will continue to support this platform any way we can.”

“Plus, when other devices like the HTC Magic come out…cha-ching!” he did not go on to add.

G1 Vs HTC Dream

htc-magic1

There’s an interesting post today on AisforAndroid comparing the specifications of the G1 and the newly announced HTC Magic. The biggest difference between the two phones is that the HTC Magic is a tad smaller and lighter with a better battery life. The obvious difference is the pull-out physical keyboard on the G1. The HTC Magic is purely touchscreen. Would this be enough to make you dump your G1 in favour of the HTC Dream? Read the post here.

Android Cupcake – YouTube Favourites

htc-magic1

The drip drip of information regarding the Cupcake is rather like Chinese water torture or sadistic foreplay. We can’t show you everything but take a peek at this. So it is, that today there is another tantalising glance of Cupcake. Mobile Crunch spotted a YouTube Favourites folder on the HTC Magic. Access your favourite YouTube videos from the home screen fantastic, excellent means I can listen to Flock of Seagulls I Ran, without all that tedious typing into YouTube’s search bar.
