DataViz Office Document Viewer For Android/T-Mobile G1 Coming Soon!

got-android-need-office

DataViz are some of the best in the business when it comes to getting mobile office functionality into a phone, and they seem to be turning their talented hands to the T-Mobile G1.

The company is developing both Documents To Go and the syncing application RoadSync for Android, with completion and release dates earmarked for 2009.

The Documents To Go software enables T-Mobile G1/Android users to both view and edit Microsoft Office documents including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, whilst also allowing manipulation of Adobe Acrobat PDF files.

RoadSync uses Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to combine Outlook mail, calendar, contacts and appointments, but the degree of functionality for the Android version is unclear as yet.

Updates will be available on www.dataviz.com/android in the coming weeks.

Microsoft CEO Cusses Out G1, Android “Looks Like Version One”

A recent BBC interview with Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer showed us all exactly what he thought of Google’s first foray into the world of phone hardware and software…it wasn’t kind.

“You’ve got to remember Android is version one….and it looks like version one”.

Wow, he no like. He’s also got both barrels for Microsoft bedfellow HTC, with an uncharacteristically mean mention…

“They’ve got one handset maker, we’ve got 55. They’re available through one operator, we’ve got 175.”

Sounds like he’s working some classic Ballmer magic. Remember his reaction to the iPhone? The guy may be crazy, but he’s crazy like a fox.
